Productivity Quality FAQs
What products and services does Productivity Quality offer?
PQI provides full-service metrology solutions including precision measurement systems (CMMs, vision/multisensor systems, industrial CT systems, gaging & hand tools), ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration and contract inspection services, and training in GD&T and metrology fundamentals.
What industries does PQI serve with its metrology solutions?
PQI supports manufacturers in aerospace and defense, automotive, medical, plastics, injection molding, machine tool, and general industrial sectors — essentially any operation needing high-accuracy measurement, calibration or inspection equipment.
What does it mean that PQI is ISO/IEC 17025-accredited?
This means PQI’s calibration lab and inspection services meet internationally recognized standards for testing and calibration competence, traceability, and quality systems — ensuring measurement results are reliable and accepted across industries. PQI is accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
Can PQI perform calibration on site at my facility, or must equipment be shipped in?
Yes — PQI offers both in-lab and onsite calibration services for dimensional, electronic, physical (force/torque/pressure), CMM/vision systems and machine tools, depending on your situation.
What kind of training does PQI offer to improve metrology capabilities?
PQI offers training via its “Metrology Matters” program, including free videos, posters and more formal classes on GD&T, inspection fundamentals, measurement uncertainty and system usage to help teams gain deeper metrology knowledge. PQI is an authorized OGP and Hexagon training facility. Our instructors are GD&T certified and have decades of software and programming knowledge and experience.
How does PQI help when I need a custom measurement system or automation?
PQI works closely with measurement system vendors and application engineers to design tailored metrology solutions — whether it’s a multisensor CMM, portable arm, vision system, or entire inspection cell — to fit your part size, tolerance and throughput needs. We ask questions, challenge assumptions, and explore unexpected solutions so our customers can confidently achieve their goals.
Does PQI support gaging, hand tools, and smaller measurement equipment, or just large systems?
Yes — in addition to large systems, PQI also supplies and services gaging tools (micrometers, calipers, rings/pins), hard gages, CMM styli and accessories, and other shop-floor measurement tools.
Where are PQI’s locations and how can I contact them?
PQI is headquartered in Plymouth, Minnesota, with additional facilities in Cedar Rapids (IA), Omaha (NE), Denver (CO), Salt Lake City (UT), and Albuquerque (NM).
How does PQI support large measurement systems like CMMs and vision systems?
PQI’s support for large systems includes factory-trained service engineers, calibration capabilities, application support, software training, and supply of accessories — all to ensure your system operates accurately and reliably.
What makes PQI different from other metrology solution providers?
PQI combines more than 30 years of industry experience, full ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, broad product and service offerings , and a regional presence across multiple states — enabling manufacturers to have a single, trusted partner for measurement, inspection, and training. We are leaders in a field that demands deep expertise and precision - all we do is numbers and they better be right.
